How We’re Helping to Support the Yorkshire Community in Covid-19

April 10th, 2020

Last updated: May 31st, 2023

It’s been heartwarming to read so many positive stories coming out during this time of uncertainty such as the Clap for Carers campaign and local businesses helping to support their communities with food deliveries and much more.

With that in mind, we have been keen to do our bit through these challenging times too, and that’s why we have organised donations, offered our assistance to the vulnerable and also helped with work on the NHS Nightingale Hospital in Harrogate.

Here’s what we’re doing to help with Covid-19 and businesses getting back to work when the time comes.

Offered Surplus Uniforms to Charity

We have offered surplus uniforms (sweatshirts, t-shirts and fleeces) to the Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity and the Harrogate Homeless Project to help those most in need during this time.

Offered Food Deliveries or Medicine Deliveries

With a fleet of vans available, we have been keen to put them to good use and help out our clients who may have vulnerable tenants that need food or medicine delivering. Our new office administrator, Becci, has been contacting our clients to offer our services and reassure them that we can help out with any urgent supplies they may need.

Supporting Local Suppliers

harrogate hand gelWe have increased our need for PPE and have acquired more gloves, masks, antibacterial sprays and hand gels during this time.

We contacted Harrogate Tipple in Ripley (just down the road from our head office) as we heard they were making hand sanitisers instead of their famous gin and we have acquired 4 bottles for use by the team. This sanitiser is a World Health Organisation recommended hand rub formulation, in accordance with WHO guidelines.

Thank you to Harrogate Tipple!

Offered Tablets to a Local School

Natalie Dalgleish, a key member of our office team, has been in touch with a local school to offer them 10 Samsung tablets that may be useful for students who don’t have access to a tablet at home and need to continue their home schooling.

Involvement in the NHS Nightingale Hospital

When it was first announced that Harrogate would be one of 4 key locations for Nightingale Hospitals, we were fully supportive of our town helping out. It was soon decided that the Harrogate Convention Centre was the chosen building, and this meant that our HVAC engineers were quickly called upon to assist with getting it rapidly turned into a hospital.

We have worked closely with Harrogate Borough Council since we won their contract to carry out maintenance to more than 60 public buildings in the district.

Our engineers have been tasked with replacing all the air filters at the Convention Centre to help ensure the building is clean and sterile ready for the first patients being admitted. Our filter supplier has been working through the night to help us prepare for the work (it really is a team effort!) and we’re doing everything we can to make sure the building is operational as quickly as possible.

We are also ensuring that our engineers adhere to strict social distancing rules whilst on site.
